These Pinot noir grapes were grown in an ancient Quartz Vein that runs through our estate vineyard. This rocky block is planted to "old school" clones of Pommard, Mt. Eden, clones 9 & 115 and Calera. This is the finest Pinot noir Valley View has ever made. Aged fifteen months in once used French oak, the aromas of ripe black cherry, strawberry jam and spicy plums burst from the glass, the sweet fruit flavors lead to a long, well structured finish. This special selection will reward those who are able to put a few bottles aside for a few more years of bottle age. Very Limited Production
A wine like this should remind folks that great Pinot Noir also happens in the southern part of Oregon. A dark raspberry aroma drifts up from the glass, followed by a most compelling combination of bacon fat and green tea. I like it. Darker fruit appears on the balanced palate, with lots of blackberries and black tea. — Michael Alberty
Brilliant, medium ruby color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of tart red cherry, pomegranate, and earth with supporting notes of black tea, plum, and raspberry. The palate echoes the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of boysenberry, wild strawberry, leather, oak, and hints of smoked meat. The finish is long and lingering with ripe tannins. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with an opulent yet vibrant texture. 95 points Bev X
