Our signature red variety comes from our 35-45 year old Pioneer Tempranillo vines. These dry farmed plants are burly and rugged with very deep roots and produce a small but intensely flavorful berry every year. The 2016 vintage was quite warm and extended well into November. As with all great wines, very little was done to it, native yeast fermentation was followed by a moderately quick fermentation and about 15 months of barrel age in 2 year old barrels. It features flavors of red cherries, earth and berries and the beginnings of classic leather and roasted meats aromas and flavors that characterizes Tempranillo as it ages. This medium to full bodied wine will continue to age well into 2025.
